The Tidal Cavern
A new place to explore. A new design to assess.
The continuing project, context and history.
Its scope, design, economy and plans.
A score and findings for that design at that point.
One game. Separate releases.
A history of better decisions.
Explore two illustrative Mosslight releases. Switch assessments to see how each design develops, then open the scope of the next update.

The first expedition
Prove the exploration, gathering and workshop loop on the home island.
Original design
The first useful workshop upgrade arrives after three expeditions. The assessment raises a question about early player motivation.
Fictional scores. A new release has new questions; its score does not inherit the previous release’s result.
How these example scores are calculated
Market 70, Core 72, Economy 64, Execution 80, Scalability 78. Illustrative weights of 25%, 25%, 20%, 20% and 10% give 72/100 after rounding.
Understand the assessmentMake an update
worth making.
Start with what you want the release to improve. Twill and the suite help work out the design, economics and plan behind it.
Give returning players a reason to return.
“Does the Tidal Cavern add a new kind of discovery, or just more gathering?”
Use Twill and the mechanic library to examine the loop, progression and rewards. Scope an addition that builds on what players already enjoy.
Playtest whether returning players understand the new goal and want to explore it.

Keep the loop going.
- Revise the working design
Use Twill and the tools to work through what you have learned.
- Run another assessment
See how the score responds and inspect what still needs attention.
- Build, test and bring the learning back
Review player feedback and actual results as you plan the next change.

Talk through what belongs in this release, what can wait and what the next assessment should examine.
Saving a design does not automatically re-score it. A new assessment can belong to the same release; a new release starts when you choose a new scope.
