Getting started

What is Gameloom?

Gameloom helps you assess a game and improve the design behind it. Bring a game design document (GDD), describe a concept or start from an existing game. You get a Gameloom Score, the reasoning behind it, and a suite of design, economy and audience tools. Twill, the built-in AI advisor, helps you work through the changes and prepare the game for another assessment.

Who is Gameloom built for?

Individual developers, designers and game studios, from indie teams to larger productions. Publishers and investors can also use the assessments to evaluate opportunities. You do not need to be fundraising or preparing a pitch: improving the game is a complete reason to use Gameloom.

How much is Gameloom?

Gameloom is currently free. You do not need a credit card, and there is no trial timer. The free Unity Editor extension also works without an account or an API key.

How can I get access to Gameloom?

Sign up with your name and email. Gameloom sends a link to set your password and open your account, with no invitation or waiting list. If you start in the Unity extension, you can check a concept without creating an account.

Your game & Twill

How does Gameloom actually work?

Upload your GDD or provide your game’s URL in the application. Gameloom compares the available design information with relevant games, performance patterns, benchmarks and postmortems. Your assessment brings together a score, comparative insights, risk flags and recommendations. Work on the design with Twill and the tools, then request a new assessment to see what changed.

What can I actually do with Gameloom today?

Assess concepts, analyse core loops, explore the gameplay mechanic library, model resources and monetisation, compare similar games, plan regionalisation and identify production risks. You can develop design variants, retain project context and create financial projections or investor and publisher materials when you need them. All of this work supports the game behind the score.

Who is Twill?

Twill is Gameloom’s built-in AI advisor. Twill helps you understand an assessment, examine the evidence, work through design decisions and develop the changes you want to test. You use Twill inside Gameloom; connecting an external AI assistant through MCP is optional.

Can I use Gameloom for an existing game or the next release?

Yes. Keep the game as one continuing project, then plan an update, expansion or point release with its own design and scope. Assess that release, work through improvements and save further assessments as the design develops. This lets you compare versions without confusing a new assessment with a new release.

Does editing my design automatically change my score?

No. Your working design and your assessments are separate. An assessment records the design at a point in time. Develop the changes first, then request another assessment. A stronger design may improve the score, but an increase is not guaranteed.

Do I need to be pitching a game to use Gameloom?

No. The main journey is to understand the score and improve the game. When you do need to talk to a publisher, studio or investor, an Investor Memo and other exportable materials help explain the design, evidence, opportunities and open risks.

GameDNA & scoring

What is the Gameloom Score?

The Gameloom Score is an assessment out of 100 across five pillars and twenty dimensions: market and audience, core concept, economy, execution and scalability. Defined weights combine those findings into an overall score. Read the reasoning, supporting evidence and gaps to decide what to work on. It is not a prediction of sales, and saving a design change does not create a new assessment.

What is GameDNA?

GameDNA is Gameloom’s structured game intelligence. It describes games through shared design traits and connects those traits with player experience, market outcomes and source evidence. Your GDD uses that same design vocabulary, helping Gameloom find relevant comparisons and apply its assessment rules. Coverage and freshness vary by record; comparisons inform a decision without proving what caused a game’s success.

What problem does Gameloom solve?

Game teams commit time and production budget before they know whether a design will work. The early decisions include the core loop, audience, economy, price and scope. Gameloom brings relevant game evidence and a consistent assessment into those decisions, making risks and missing information visible while there is still time to act.

How is Gameloom different from ChatGPT or general AI?

GameDNA breaks games into structured design traits and connects them with player experience, commercial outcomes and source evidence. Gameloom uses those relationships to find useful comparisons for your game. That maintained intelligence, a defined scoring framework and connected project tools give Twill and supported MCP workflows something specific to work with. A general chat alone does not give you the same maintained comparison system, assessment history or tools for your project.

How is Gameloom different from traditional analytics tools?

Analytics helps you understand what players did in your game. Gameloom helps you evaluate what you plan to build or change, using evidence from other games, genre and monetisation benchmarks, and your own design. Use it before production or alongside analytics as you plan later releases. Playtesting and real player data remain essential.

What does “GameDNA is updated daily” mean?

Gameloom maintains and updates the game intelligence behind its comparisons each day. That does not mean every record is equally complete, every source changes daily or your project’s score automatically updates. Read the evidence and its coverage, then request a new assessment when you want to evaluate the current design.

Explore the intelligence
How accurate are the insights?

The insights draw on game statistics, historical evidence and performance patterns. They are decision support, not a guarantee of sales or success. Their value is in exposing blind spots, showing useful comparisons and making a design question easier to test. Read the reasoning and evidence gaps alongside the headline score.

Understand your assessment
Does Gameloom use an LLM to produce the score?

AI evaluates specified parts of your written design against a fixed set of criteria. Gameloom’s scoring engine checks those inputs, decides which criteria apply and calculates the result using defined weights. Missing evidence remains visible. If an AI response fails the checks, the engine uses a rule-based fallback and marks the assessment accordingly. Twill then helps you understand and act on the findings.

Unity & MCP

Is there a Unity integration?

Yes. Gameloom for Unity is free on the Unity Asset Store and requires Unity 2022.3 or newer. Open Window → Gameloom, paste a concept or upload a .txt or .md GDD, and choose a target platform. The extension returns an evidence-backed concept read, typically in about a minute. No account, sign-in, AI credits or API key are required; its dependency installs automatically.

What does the Unity plugin do, and how is it different from the full platform?

The plugin checks the design text you submit. It returns comparable shipped games, outcomes and stats, genre and platform pricing benchmarks, cohort sentiment and failure-mode risks. The full Gameloom application adds the five-pillar assessment, Design, Economy and Regional tools, design variants, retained context and investor or publisher exports. The plugin does not read your scenes, scripts, prefabs or assets, and nothing it adds ships in your player builds.

How does MCP connect Gameloom to my AI tools?

MCP lets compatible AI assistants use Gameloom’s supported intelligence and project tools. With the appropriate connection and access, your assistant can read an assessment, help develop the design and request another assessment. The Gameloom app remains the home for your project. Available actions depend on the connection; MCP access does not by itself mean an assistant can edit engine scenes or game code.
